Trauma

Trust feels complicated. You might find yourself hypervigilant in crowds, or struggling to feel safe even with people you love. Certain sounds, smells, or situations transport you back to places you would rather not revisit. Your nervous system reacts before your mind catches up, and you feel disconnected from your body and from others. Relationships feel harder than they used to; either you are pushing people away or clinging too tightly. You want to feel like yourself again, but “yourself” feels like a moving target.

We will create a safe therapeutic relationship where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. You will learn to notice when your body feels stressed and find ways to bring yourself back to a calm state. For example, we might work on: “What helps you feel most grounded and present in this moment?” We will focus on restoring your sense of agency and connection while honoring the wisdom your survival responses have given you.
